Call for Special Sessions

In order to propose a special session at SiPS 2024, we need a simple proposal document for consideration by the organizing committee. The document should be maximum two pages and should state:

  • The title of the session.
  • The list of names, affiliations and e-mail addresses of proposed session organizers.
  • An abstract (one paragraph) of the topic of the session.
  • A list of papers which you intend to invite, or authors have informed you they intend to submit, including titles and author list (this need not be final and is indicative).
  • An estimate of the anticipated number of submissions.

If your proposal is successful, the reviews will be managed by the session chairs and part of the SiPS Program Committee has been left uncommitted (i.e. they have no review load so far) so that they are available to review the papers. Acceptance for papers is on scientific contribution; we expect these sessions to be high quality and so, hypothetically acceptance rates of 100% are possible, constrained only by the amount of time available in the conference schedule. Generally, though, we anticipate 4 – 6 (maximum 8) presentation slots per session; we can advise of the specific number assigned to your session when all proposals have been submitted and considered.

Special session presentations, for instance from industry, which are not accompanied by full papers are welcome, however please be aware all presenters will be required to register for the conference in order to present and, at a minimum, short abstracts are expected for all such presentations.

Indicative timeline:

  • Deadline for submission of proposals: June 15th.
  • Notification of acceptance: June 22nd.
  • Paper submission: July 31st.
  • Reviews complete: August 31st.
  • Camera-ready paper submission: September 23rd.
